Elisa Ewers

Elisa Ewers has over 25 years of national security and foreign policy experience in the U.S. government, think tanks, academia, and the private sector as an expert on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), counterterrorism and security cooperation, and multilateral political and economic institutions. She was the senior professional advisor to the Democrats in the Senate on the Middle East and North Africa, nonproliferation and arms control, and international economic statecraft policies. In the Obama and George W. Bush administrations, she was selected as a deputy assistant secretary and served at the White House on the National Security Council, the Departments of State and Defense, U.S. embassies, and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. She was an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security. Before public service, Ewers’ private sector career included strategy consulting and institutional asset management. She is currently a visiting senior fellow at RAND, is a partner at Scalare Advisors, and serves on the policy council of the American Task Force for Lebanon and on the board of directors of the Navy Marine Corps Relief society.
