Youth

Anshe Emet’s Youth Groups are a great way to find opportunities for social action, Israel education, religious and social activities.

All are welcome! As always, you do not need to be a member of Anshe Emet to be a part of our youth programs and activities.

We offer Youth Groups for the following ages:

Shachar • SK-2nd Grade

Shachar, meaning dawn in Hebrew, is our first introduction to experiential youth programming here at Anshe Emet. Shachar is designed to allow our young members to explore Judaism with their peers through exciting activities that they are not doing in religious or day schools. We meet several times throughout the year to introduce these Shachar participants to what it is a youth group does.

Machar • 3rd-5th Grade

Machar means tomorrow in Hebrew, and we see them as the future of older youth groups. Machar meets monthly to have a taste of what it will be like in Kadima and even in USY. Machar’s famous programs include Challah baking, tie-dying, under-night in the synagogue and their Chocolate Seder.

Gesher • 6th-8th Grade

Our Gesher chapter is part of the Chicago Region of Kadima/USY- through United Synagoge known as CHUSY.  not only has monthly programming in and out of the building, but also overnighters and their own weekend long convention in December through CHUSY Region. 8th Graders are invited to start participating in USY in January of their 8th grade year.

Take Me Out to Tefillah!

We hope you are warmed up and ready for the first pitch!

With the start of the new year, Anshe Emet is initiating this year’s season of tefillah. We invite each K-5th grade family to join us for at least nine tefillah opportunities! If you attend or “sticker in” to at least nine
innings (services) of Tefillah at Anshe Emet Synagogue, you can join us at a Cubs game this spring!
