Marlene is the daughter of two Holocaust survivors. She will discuss the experiences of her parents during the Holocaust and how those experiences shaped the rest of their lives and hers. Her father, Joseph Steiner, was from Czestochowa, Poland, and he survived the war in forced labor camps. Her mother, Sima Rauch, was born in Stryj, Poland, and she endured years in Siberia. Marlene was born in Poland after World War II. She is a retired Special Education teacher and educational consultant to the Chicago Public Schools. She has lectured extensively about the Holocaust in Chicago Public Schools.
