Monthly support group 

Please join us for a monthly support group for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one within the past two years.

Facilitated by Marsha L. Raynes, LCSW, JCFS Chicago. For more information and/or if you’d like to connect prior to coming your first time, please call Marsha at 847-745-5408.

Anshe Emet’s Funeral Plan is a benefit available to all members and their parents, siblings, spouses, partners and children.

Be sure to let the funeral director know that you want the Anshe Emet Basic Plan. (Please note: older and/or out-of-state prepaid insurance plans may be transferable to any of our funeral directors.)

The funeral director will meet with the family to finalize arrangements and only a few decisions remain:

    • Text of the published death notice
    • Location of the service (Anshe Emet, funeral home, graveside or elsewhere)
    • Place of burial is determined by site of cemetery plot

Funeral Plan Includes: 

  • Transfer of the deceased to the funeral home
  • Ritual washing, tahara, provided by Anshe Emet’s Chevra Kadisha in the OSHA certified funeral home facility
  • Burial garments, tachrichim
  • Tallit (if not provided by family)
  • Traditional all wood casket with Star of David
  • Jerusalem soil
  • Transportation of casket to local burial site
  • Register Book
  • Filing of government forms (Social Security, Veterans Benefits)
  • Shiva package: mourning ribbons, head coverings (kippot), prayer books for home service, memorial candle and acknowledgment cards
  • Funeral service at Anshe Emet, funeral home or graveside

Funeral Plan Does NOT Include: 

  • Cost of the cemetery plot
  • Cost of grave opening/closing at time of funeral
  • Outer burial container
  • Certificates of Death
  • Publication of Death Notices
  • Cost of attendant, shomer, to stay with deceased prior to funeral if requested
  • Sales tax on casket and outer burial container
  • Optional honorarium for Clergy
  • Limousines to transport family and designated mourners to service and/or graveside
