This program invites participants on a captivating exploration of Chicago’s lesser-known historical and cultural landmarks. Led by retired educator and passionate historian Beth Sair, the presentation highlights unique sites that even lifelong Chicagoans may have never encountered such as:

  • Chicago’s first public library and its surprising origins
  • The oldest park district field house
  • Yoko Ono’s peace sculpture and its meaning
  • Rarely discussed but architecturally significant buildings and memorials
  • Historic murals that preserve stories of the city’s past
  • The first and largest Tiffany glass mosaic ceiling of its kind

Beth is a longtime volunteer of the Chicago Architecture Center and an active member of the Chicago Tour Guide Professionals Association. Her deep knowledge, engaging storytelling, and enthusiasm for local history make her an exceptional guide for this informative program.
