USY/SHMUSY (9th - 12th Grade)

The USY chapter at Anshe Emet is called SHMUSY. We are the only USY chapter in the city of Chicago. SHMUSY is open to all Jewish 9th-12th Graders. We have programmed lounge nights twice a month on Tuesday, and once a month a weekend program. Our programs range from social dessert hops around the city, to social action programs like volunteering with Night Ministry.

SHMUSY is one of the top fundraising chapters in the region raising over $5,000 for Tikun Olam (USY’s Tzedekah Fund). Our USYers also participate in CHUSY Regional programs and conventions. In addition to our regular USY programs our teens also have the opportunity to pray and learn together with monthly Teen Shabbat programming.

SHMUSY has strong chapter participation at all of the regional conventions and USY’s International Convention. We also encourage our USYers to participate in USY summer programs to Israel and across the US.

SHMUSY is committed to it’s social action, Israel education and Jewish programming. Our programs are planned by our fantastic USY board members who work hard on creating fun and exciting events for their peers.
