Member of Knesset Eyal Ben-Reuven is an Israeli politician, former IDF commander and a “warrior for peace.” Ben-Reuven had a distinguished military career, participating in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the 1982 Lebanon war, rising to the rank of major general and
serving as deputy commander of the Northern Command in the 2006 Lebanon War. After retiring from the army, he became director of the Born to Freedom Foundation, which works to secure the release of Israeli prisoners of war. Later, Ben-Reuven launched his political career, joining with the Meretz party after participating in several peace initiative, including the Geneva Initiative. He left Meretz and joined the Zionist Union in the 2015 election cycle, winning a seat in the Knesset for the first time. Ben-Reuven studied at the US Army War College and received a BA in political science from the University of Haifa.
