Rose Crown Minyan

About Us

Anshe Emet Synagogue’s Rose Crown Minyan meets every Shabbat morning at 9:30am. The Minyan is an intimate, traditional service, committed to egalitarian and participatory worship. Run completely by lay people (with the occasional assistance of our clergy) since 1994, the Minyan offers a more traditional alternative to the main service, with a full P’sukei D’zimrah (introductory Psalms) and a complete Torah reading each week.

The Minyan is attended by people of all ages; singles, couples, families, teens and seniors are all invited to come and participate. The Rose Crown Minyan ends at the same time as the main service, which allows the entire synagogue community to be together for Kiddush.

Although we are not a “learner’s minyan,” numerous people participate for the first time in reading Torah and Haftarah, leading services and delivering Divrei Torah. We are happy to provide guidance to those who wish to participate but are still developing their synagogue skills.

To learn more about the Rose Crown Minyan or if you are interested in helping lead services or learning how to do so, please contact Rabbi David Russo at drusso@ansheemet.org/773-868-5127 or one of the co-chairs, Elizabeth Atwater at e.n.atwater@gmail.com, Edi Frajman at efrajman@gmail.com, Cheryl Krugel-Lee at cherylkrugel@gmail.com or Jay Lazar at moelazar@comcast.net.

Mission

The Rose Crown Minyan is a traditional, lay-led, egalitarian minyan within the Anshe Emet Synagogue community. The primary purpose of the Rose Crown Minyan is to be a welcoming community with an emphasis on spiritually satisfying participatory davening. The Rose Crown Minyan seeks to foster personal and communal growth through outstanding services, Jewish learning, social interaction, and support for all life-cycle events. The Rose Crown Minyan strongly encourages its participants to be members of Anshe Emet Synagogue and to fully engage with and aspire to leadership roles in the larger Anshe Emet Synagogue community.

We look forward to continuing to grow and develop the Minyan and our connections to the synagogue community. Come join us some Shabbat morning, and stay for lunch!
