He has played abroad twice on the U22 national team and in August 2025 on the Is rael national team.\n\nAt the age of two\, Ilay experienced bleeding in hi s spinal cord from an unknown cause\, which left him paralyzed from the wa ist down. He began playing wheelchair basketball at age nine and was part of the U22 team that won 3rd place in the 2021 European Championships. In June 2025\, he captained the U22 team in the World Championships in Brazil . In August 2025\, he played as part of the Israel national team in the Na tions Cup in Germany where they came in fifth against some of the stronges t teams in the world.\n\nIlay graduated high school in 2023.
