Anshe Emet is proud to welcome, Jackie Maris, Chicago Education & Training Manager at Keshet, as we kick-off Pride Month.

Jackie will join us Friday evening, June 4 at 6PM as our special Shabbat guest speaker.

Jackie is a queer, South African Pisces with a love for education and community-building. She has worn various facilitator hats as a madricha (summer camp leader) and Rosh Chinuch (Head of Education) with Netzer, as a Hebrew school teacher at Temple Israel in Cape Town, and as Co-Chair of the Limmud Conference in Johannesburg.

Before Keshet, Jackie worked as Education Coordinator with Roundabout Theatre Company, overseeing the theatre’s intern and apprentice programs for early-career professionals interested in the Broadway arts industry. She also worked in Juilliard’s admissions department, supporting their audition season, while pursuing her Masters degree in Arts Administration at New York University. Prior to this, she completed her undergrad in Anthropology, History, and Gender Studies at the University of Cape Town.

When she’s not working, Jackie serves on the board of Tapestry (a chamber choir in NYC), volunteers with Books Through Bars (mailing books to incarcerated folks), and collects zines on fat liberation (shoutout to Etsy).
