Shabbat Services
Erev Shabbat (Friday Evening)
Congregational Service at 6:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. June-August): This service is a way to welcome Shabbat communally with prayers, songs, and readings. A D'var Torah from the portion of the week is offered.
Young Adult Division Service at 7:15 p.m. (*Summer months at 7p.m.):
(The first, third, and fifth Fridays of the month except when Anshe Emet Live is scheduled. Join the Young Adult Division as they participate in an informal service. An oneg, potluck, or educational program follows services
Young Families Kabbalat Service at 6 p.m. (The first Friday of the month):
Join the Young Families for a special service followed by a traditional Shabbat dinner at 6:00 p.m. (reservations required-please call (773) 868-5131).
Anshe Emet Live at 7:15 p.m. (third Friday of the month):
Join us for the popular Anshe Emet Live Service! This musical extravaganza is a foot-tapping, blood-pumping experience! Led by the incomparable Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi. Stay after services and meet other people during our oneg.
Kesher: Making Connections with God & One Another (see dates below)
Anshe Emet is introducing a new Friday Night experience! Each service will begin with a "pro-neg" (light refreshments and schmoozing and then transition into a meaningful, dynamic and participatory prayer experience. We hope to see you there! Kesher will begin on October 26 with the pro-neg at 5:45 p.m. followed by the service at 6:15 p.m. The remaining dates the pro-neg will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. service. The dates are as follows: November 30, December 14, January 11, February 8, March 21, April 11, May 23 & June 13.
Shabbat (Saturday Morning):
Learners’ Service at 9:00 a.m. (June 9, this service will resume in the fall):
The Learners’ Service is for those who would like to have a better understanding of the Shabbat morning service and Torah study. Following the Learners’ Service (at 10:30 am), participants join either the Sanctuary service or the Rose Crown Minyan for the Torah reading and Musaf.
Sanctuary Service at 9:30 a.m. every week of the year (on Festivals, services begin at 9:00 a.m.):
Join Rabbi Siegel, Hazzan Mizrahi and Ritual Director Debby Lewis every Shabbat as they lead our congregation in prayer. This service also provides an opportunity to share in our community’s life cycle events as we celebrate aufrufs, baby namings, and B’nai Mitzvah.
Rose Crown Minyan at 9:30 a.m. every week of the year (on Festivals, services begin at 9:00 a.m.):
Anshe Emet Synagogue’s Rose Crown Minyan is an intimate, traditional service, committed to egalitarian and participatory worship. The service is conducted by our members and offers a more traditional alternative to the Sanctuary service, with a full P’sukei D’zimrah (introductory Psalms) and a complete Torah reading each week.
Shalom Shabbat at 10:00 a.m. (second and fourth Shabbat of each month):
Shalom Shabbat provides a Shabbat worship experience for families with young children who are four years of age and younger. Sing, dance, and hear stories as you learn about Shabbat with your children. Led by Maxine Handelman.
SHACHAR Service at 11:00 a.m. (second and fourth Shabbat of each month):
SHACHAR Service, for families with children who are four years of age and older. A service that incorporates stories and songs. Led by Maxine Handelman.
MACHAR (3rd - 5th grade)/KADIMA (6th - 8th grade) Youth Service at 11:00 a.m. (first and third Saturday of the month):
Families with students in third through sixth grade join together to participate in an interactive Shabbat experience.
