Uri Pachter - Director of Informal Education and Youth Activities
I am very excited about working with such a vibrant community that puts so much emphasis on the development of their children’s Jewish identity. I was privileged to grow up in a similar community- at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El in Highland Park- and am dedicated to enhancing Anshe Emet’s already strong youth programs.
I attended Solomon Schechter Day School and Ida Crown Jewish Academy. When I was not in school, I I was an active member of Beth El USY and a camper and staff member at Ramah in Wisconsin. I graduated from Columbia University in New York and the Jewish Theological Seminary and studied at the University of Haifa. While in college, I staffed a USY trip to Costa Rica, tutored for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and taught Hebrew as a third language to Ethiopian Immigrants. Last year I was a membe of AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps here in Chicago. While I was working full-time for a social change organization, I studied the relationships between Jewish values, establishing community, and social justice work.
