FAQ's

WILL FOOD BE PROVIDED?
Yes. We provide snacks for the children during the program. Please do not bring any food
into the building as we are a kosher facility and must also be mindful of food allergies.

CAN SIBLINGS OF DIFFERENT AGES BE IN THE SAME CLASS?
Our activities are targeted to specific ages in each room. If siblings cannot be separated, the older child will be asked to go to the younger child’s room for the program time.

WHAT IS THE PLAYGROUND POLICY?
The playground is used for the children’s program only and is closed to the general synagogue population during the High Holy Days.

WHAT IS “CHOICE TIME?”
Choice time is a series of two or more concurrent activities in different rooms. Children in
3rd through 8th grades will rotate among the activities during part of their morning. The
schedule which outlines the room number and activity will be prominently posted in the
downstairs and upstairs hallways.

HOW DO WE FIND YOU IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK OR NEEDS YOU?
For children ages 18 months through five years of age, when you check in, you will tell the
registrar where you will be seated and you will be given a number. That number is put on your
child’s nametag and all of his/her belongings. You will be given a sticker with that same
number which you can place on your ticket.

Should we need to contact you during the services, we will go to the appropriate service and
an usher will hold up a piece of paper with your child’s number on it. We ask that you sit
in an easily accessible seat so that when you see your number, you can follow the usher with
a minimum and delay or disruption.

For older children, you will give your service location assignment to the registrar who will
enter it next to your child’s name. Should there be a problem, we will escort your child to
the entrance of your registered service. When you see your child with an escort at the door,
please meet him/her and go into the hallway so as not to disrupt the service.

WHEN DO I PICK UP MY CHILD?
Our children/youth programs are scheduled through the end of services. Please pick up your
child directly after services. Please do not leave the building for any reason, while your
child is in a program.

DO YOU HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE SITTER SERVICE?
Yes. Last year, Anshe Emet piloted a new program for children three years of age and older
with diagnosed sensory processing disorder (SPD). This year we will continue to provide a
quite room, which will have minimal stimuli (noise and/or visual). Space is extremely
limited; if you are interested in enrolling your child in this program, please contact Leah
Conley
at (773) 868-5131. The program willbe available during the standard sitter service hours of operation.
