Anshe Emet Synagogue was delighted to welcome Senator Joe Lieberman on Sunday, December 10, 2011 for a special evening lecture and discussion of his most recent book, “The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath.”

“The Gift of Rest” offers a look at the beauty of Sabbath observance - a practice that has anchored, ordered, and inspired Senator Lieberman’s life. It combines both personal and political memoir with history and broadly informed religious reflection and is a practical how-to guide, meant to inspire putting the real meaning of the Sabbath back into practice.
