Held every Monday, this weekly daytime class for mature adults with active minds offers discussions on a variety of Jewish-related topics.

Text on Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. each Tuesday

Each Tuesday morning, immediately after Morning Minyan, Rabbi Abe Friedman hosts a lively 40-minute discussion looking at a specific issue or story from the current week’s Torah portion.  Drawing on the insights of 19th and 20th-century rabbis, Text on Tuesday focuses on the ways in which the Torah offers guidance for our personal, spiritual, and emotional development.  The discussion ends by 8:30 a.m. to accommodate work schedules, and Text on Tuesday is an ongoing class so you can join at any time!  For more information please contact Ashley Robins at 773-868-5125.

Engaging Torah Class with Rabbi Siegel at 8:45 a.m. each Friday
Join us for a rollickingly relevant approach to the weekly Torah portion led by Senior Rabbi Michael Siegel.   Drawing from traditional and modern sources in pursuit of the meaning of the text for our times, we guarantee you will find that the Torah is the Tree of Life to those who hold fast to it. There is no cost to attend and this class is open to the entire community.
For more information, please contact Antoinette Nunez at 773-868-5120.

Lay-Led Parshat HaShavuah Class at 9:00 a.m. each Shabbat
Every week, have a lively lay led discussion of the weekly Parsha and other timely issues within the Religious Calendar. We delve into the text and employ commentaries from many of the great scholars to help us further our understanding of the Torah and how their analysis helps our conception. Often, the clergy will join us as we probe into the interpretation of a pasuk (sentence) by examining the Hebrew and the context as we compare the biblical era and the present. This program is open to all and absolutely no prior knowledge is needed--just a thirst to learn! For over 25 years Moishe Lenow has led the discussion on Saturday mornings. Please join us for a thoroughly open and engaging discussion each Shabbat morning in the Bennett Library.

For more information, please contact Rabbi Matt Futterman at 773-868-5116.

Mollie Dubin English for Russians Program at 10:00 a.m. most Sundays

The Mollie Dubin class is dedicated to the teaching of English to native speakers of Russian. Two classes meet on Sunday mornings. One is for beginners and the other is for intermediate students. There are two teachers who have English as a second language experience.

The beginning class uses a textbook and worksheets on various topics. The intermediate class utilizes newspaper articles and magazines for discussion purposes. Both classes spend time to introduce and expound on everyday conversation situations that arise during the lives of the students on a daily basis. Students enjoy the interaction with the teachers and the opportunity to meet other Russians who share the goal of learning to improve their English language skills.  Classes are held on Sunday mornings.

Anyone interested should call the synagogue office at 773-281-1423. There is no fee to attend.
